Post-Pandemic Dreaming
To our followers and friends, partners and rivals,
As the first whispers of warm spring air tease us with hopes of sunshine and life without snow pants, we can feel the collective yearning for social un-distancing. The great coming together is on the horizon and our first priority is, of course, a GIANT WADDIES TOURNAMENT.
The launch tournament remains aspirational because of the pandemic but we're allowing ourselves to dream a little. Maybe in September? Whenever it is, the event is going to be a banger. We have some of the region's most influential social organizers leading the preliminary planning. Stay tuned for more updates.
In the meantime, we are hard at work making sure our product is perfect so that we can get sets into your rec rooms as soon as possible. Here are some progress reports from our corporate and operational divisions:
From the manufacturing and design team:
The first samples and prototypes are in and looking good. There are some small issues to iron out but we're sure our new board design will work. The challenge is replicating the feel of the old boards while maintaining the look and versatility of the new design, all while keeping costs low. There is more testing ahead. Luckily, testing means playing Waddies!
From the procurement team:
We are working with local woodworking shops to produce the board. We've gone from pine to birch, an iconic Canadian hardwood. Creating a product that is made primarily in Canada is very important to us. We are getting quotes for other materials from around Ontario. We hoped to have the pucks made locally too, but are having trouble keeping costs down. We might need to go to China for the pucks but we'll try to avoid doing business with a regime that arbitrarily takes Canadians hostage. We challenge China to release the two Michaels and to settle our differences the old fashioned way: a game of Waddies! Your move, China.
From the finance team:
We are almost out of funds. Why is no one panicking? Our projections indicate that costs are far exceeding..hey! Who threw that Waddie at me?
